Research Clusters

During the growth phase of Berkeley Air & Space Center, UC Berkeley and NASA have launched a series of joint research clusters.

These clusters provide an early platform for collaboration between UC Berkeley faculty, NASA researchers, and industry partners—allowing work to begin now on research that will ultimately live at the new campus. Each cluster is designed to build shared research infrastructure, seed joint projects, and foster an ongoing exchange of ideas across domains central to aerospace innovation.

The first three clusters—Advanced Aviation, Robotics & Autonomy, and Materials in Extreme Environments—represent the foundation of this emerging partnership, with additional clusters expected to follow as Berkeley Air & Space Center develops.
