Through our research clusters, BA&SC Faculty Affiliates gain access to various initiatives and programs. Additionally, BA&SC continuously strives to establish interdisciplinary research collaborations and new partnerships within academia and industry to support your students, partners, and personal research in the air and space sectors.
Qualifications
To become a BA&SC Faculty Affiliate, you must be a tenured, tenured track, research or adjunct faculty member of UC Berkeley.
To be considered for affiliation, we request that you provide the following:

Outline your background in air and space science and engineering as well as your ongoing interest in the broader field. As interdisciplinary collaboration is at the heart of the BA&SC, we are actively inviting participation from the broader Berkeley community. Faculty of any specialty may apply.

Provide your CV and a link to your campus/professional website.

Address how you will fulfill your Faculty Affiliate role as described below in a brief cover letter.
Role
Faculty Affiliates are integral to BA&SC, engaging in strategic planning, fundraising, and various workshops and seminars. Their contributions to the Center's operations and programming are manifested through several key activities:
- Develop grant proposals to federal and state agencies, as well as industry partners.
- Opportunities to serve as Principal Investigator (PI) or Co-PI on externally funded projects.
- Lead and/or participate in BA&SC research clusters.
- Participate in student instruction at BA&SC.
- Create and/or use dedicated lab and teaching facilities at the BA&SC site.
- Pursue air & space entrepreneurship at the BA&SC.
- Mentor graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and staff researchers.
- Serve as speakers and panelists at BA&SC lectures, seminars, and other programs.
- Access and exposure to industry Consortium members.
Participation Requirements
To maintain an active and collaborative network, Faculty Affiliates are asked to participate in at least one of the following activities annually:

Serve as a speaker or panelist at a BA&SC lecture, seminar, or event.

Attend at least one Faculty Affiliate Meeting.

Engage with our incubators and industry or government partners.
